The new Head of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed the readiness for carrying on the course initiated by the President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on the further development of multifaceted partnership with
China, also, deepening and building-up of Turkmen-Chinese cooperation. He informed Xi Jinping about this during a telephone conversation on Wednesday, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports.
The President of the People's Republic of China congratulated Serdar Berdimuhamedov on his victory in the presidential election and wished him great success in his responsible work in this important post.
During the conversation the effective character of interstate cooperation, successfully developing in political and diplomatic, trade and economic and culture and humanitarian areas was underlined.
In the range of priorities of bilateral partnership, the fuel and energy sector has been identified, where joint project on construction of transnational gas pipeline through which Turkmen “blue fuel” is supplied to China become a visible symbol of executed mutually beneficial efforts.
There is a substantial potential for systematic cooperation build-up, also in other perspective directions including industrial, transport and communication, logistics, technological and other sectors of economy.
A new effective impetus to bilateral cooperation was given by the working visit of the President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to China, where the head of Turkmenistan, as an honorary guest, took part in the opening ceremony of the XXIV Winter Olympic Games in Beijing, and also held talks with the President of the People's Republic of China. In accordance with their results, important agreements were reached, the practical implementation of which is designed to bring long-term cooperation based on a solid foundation of friendship and goodwill to qualitatively new frontiers, the source reports.
We remind that during February talks the Turkmen leader underlined the readiness to discuss specific issues on increase of Turkmen natural gas delivery to PRC by construction of the fourth branch of gas pipeline Turkmenistan – China.
In accordance with the agreements reached earlier, after putting into operation of the fourth branch of the gas pipeline the supply of Turkmen gas into China must increase to 65 milliard cubic meters per year.
