The counting of the votes given on the early Presidential elections in Turkmenistan are in progress. The final results will be announced on March, 14, “MIR 24” informs with the reference to the CEC.
At present time the counting of the votes from some polling stations at the diplomatic representatives and consular posts of Turkmenistan abroad, which are received with a delay due to the difference in time zones, continues.
Nine candidates competed for the post of head of state. Six candidates from initiative groups of five velayats and Ashgabat, as well as three candidates from the Democratic Party, the Agrarian Party and the Party of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan.
The voting process was monitored by 2.726 national observers, as well as foreign observers from the CIS, the SCO and a number of neighboring countries.
The inauguration ceremony of the newly elected President of Turkmenistan will take place on the 19th of March at the “Oguzhan” Palace Complex.
