Zhaparov expressed hope that the new President of Turkmenistan will continue Berdimuhamedov's reforms

President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov expressed hope that the new President of Turkmenistan will continue the reforms of the current Head of State Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

"I am convinced that your recent decisive political step will open up new opportunities for the sustainable development of the Turkmen state. I hope that the next President-elect will continue the path you have started. I believe that your activities in the name of the integrity and development of the Turkmen state will be highly appreciated by the Turkmen people," Zhaparov's message to Berdimuhamedov reads, published in the newspaper Neutral Turkmenistan today.

The Head of the Kyrgyz Republic noted that the work of his Turkmen counterpart as the country's leader "is invaluable in building genuine brotherhood and trust between the two peoples."

"I hope that the foundation of friendship between our countries, laid with your participation, will continue strengthening," Sadyr Zhaparov stressed.

To recap, on February 11, 2022, at a meeting of the Halk Maslahaty of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov informed of his decision to "give way to public administration to young leaders." After that, the country's Parliament announced early Presidential elections to be held on March 12 this year. The Central Election Commission registered nine (9) candidates nominated for the highest state post.
