Preparations for Presidential elections of Turkmenistan were discussed by the country's Foreign Ministry and Heads of UN establishments in Ashgabat

Today, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov held a meeting with the Heads and Representatives of the UN establishments in Ashgabat. Foreign Ministry of the country reports it.

The UN Permanent Coordinator in Turkmenistan Dmitry Shlapachenko, UNDP Permanent Representative in Turkmenistan Narine Sahakyan and Acting Head of the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia Philip Saprykin took part in the talks.

The main topic of discussion was the preparation for the upcoming early Presidential elections of Turkmenistan to be held on March 12.

During the conversation, joint current social and economic projects and prospects in this direction were also considered, the source notes.

To recap, the Election Campaign started in the country on February 14. Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Serdar Berdimuhamedov has already been registered as a candidate for the post of the President of Turkmenistan. The Central Election Commission also registered a candidate from the Agrarian Party of Turkmenistan - Deputy Head of Mary Region Aghajan Bekmyradov.
