UNDP handed over equipment for PCR diagnostics to the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan

The UNDP Representative Office in the country handed over laboratory equipment for PCR diagnostics to the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan today. This is reported in the UNDP Press Release.

The equipment purchased within the framework of the COVID-19 Response Project in Turkmenistan includes 10 Qiagen Rotor Gene Q Plex-6 devices, 10 thermoblocks, 6 microcentrifuges, 6 centrifuges and 6 autoclaves.

The equipment has already been installed in Ashgabat, and it is expected that it will also be installed in all regions of the country.

The COVID-19 Response Project in Turkmenistan is funded by the World Bank and has a budget of US$ 20 million. UNDP together with the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan implements it to strengthen preparedness to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Project is aimed at strengthening national capacity in the field of testing and treatment, improving the skills of medical staff, purchasing reagents, medicines and medical equipment, as well as eliminating social and health risks associated with the pandemic.
