Republic of Korea beat Syria to advance to 2022 World Cup

The Republic of Korea national team joined the ranks of the teams that made it to the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Wards of Paulo Bento beat Syria in the qualifying match (2:0) and advanced to the world championship ahead of schedule. Both goals were scored in the second half. Distinguished defender Kim Chin Su (53rd minute) and attacking midfielder Kwon Chang Hoon (71st).

The Korean team scored 20 points in 8 matches of the third qualifying round and became inaccessible to the UAE team in third place. The Koreans made it to the World Cup in Qatar after the Iranian team, also playing in Group A.

The national team of the Republic of Korea became the 15th participant of the tournament, which will be held in Qatar. Teams from Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Germany, Spain, Serbia, France, Croatia, Switzerland, Denmark, England, the Netherlands and Iran have already qualified for the tournament through qualifying competitions. Qatar will play at the World Cup as the host of the competition.

It should be noted that the Koreans will take part in the final stage of the world championships for the 10th time in a row. They achieved their best result in 2002 - fourth place in a tournament held in Japan and the Republic of Korea.

The final tournament of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar will be held from November 21 to December 18.
