Scientists have elaborated a bioplastic from sugar

Group of scientists from the British Birmingham University and American Duke University have created two new varieties of biodegradable plastic on sugar base. According to with reference to News Concerns, both materials are made from sugar alcohols, while the first polymer is made from isomannide and has a property to stretch. And the isoidid was taken as the basis of the second type of bioplastic, as a result of which it turned out to be strong and plastic. It is noted, that a new type of bioplastic can be mixed with each other and other types of plastic, which will allow to obtain new materials. In addition, the rate of bioplastic degradation can also be controlled. Scientists believe, that the new development will form the basis for the creation of environmentally clean plastics in production.
