The program for the development of transport diplomacy for 2022-2025 was approved by President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who signed the relevant document today during a government meeting. This was announced by the news program "Watan" of the Turkmen television.
As Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov said at the meeting, the program provides for strategically important measures aimed at the comprehensive modernization of the material and technical base of all types of transport in Turkmenistan, the formation of a modern specialized infrastructure, further strengthening the position of Turkmenistan as a regional center of international transport - transit corridors.
The program includes such areas as the development of the legal framework in this area and international cooperation in this area, the preparation of the Road Transport Code of Turkmenistan, the effective continuation of mutually beneficial cooperation with international organizations, including the UN and its regional Commissions, the International Federation of Freight Forwarding Associations, the International Air Transport Association, the International Civil Aviation Organization, the International Road Transport Union, the Organization for Cooperation of Railways, the International Maritime Organization, etc.
It is also planned to work on the accession of Turkmenistan to the Intergovernmental Commission of (TRACECA) "Europe-Caucasus-Asia" International Transport Corridor, the study of the possibilities of using a universal digital solution in the development of multimodal transportation - the Global Transit Document.
