Head of Turkmenistan to visit Iran

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov will visit Iran in the near future.

Iranian media report that the preparation for the visit and the documents to be signed during it were discussed today in Tehran at the talks between Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian and Vice - Premier of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Rashid Meredov, Minister of Foreign Affairs. Let us remind you that the Turkmen delegation is in the capital of Iran on the instructions of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of cooperation in the spheres of economy, trade, energy, transport and transit, as well as the situation in Afghanistan. The interlocutors stressed the need to form an inclusive government in the neighboring country.

During the talks, the sides stressed the importance of bilateral relations with Iran and the role of the Joint Economic Commission in the development of cooperation between the two countries.

Note that there has been some progress in relations between the two neighboring countries recently. In less than six months, the Presidents of Turkmenistan and Iran have met twice. The first time was in Dushanbe as part of a meeting of the SCO heads of state, then Berdimuhamedov and Raisi agreed to settle the gas issue. The second time - in Ashgabat within the framework of the ECO summit. This meeting was followed by the signing of an Agreement on swap supplies of Turkmen gas to Azerbaijan.
