For the purpose of timely and high-quality completion of the construction of the administrative center of the Ahal velayat, a special commission was created under the Government of Turkmenistan. This was stated by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov at today's meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, the State Information Agency of Turkmenistan reports.

Vice - Premier Chary Gylyjov, who oversees the Ahal velayat, was appointed the head of the relevant commission, and its members are Vice - Premier for Finance Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Deputy Prime Minister Charymyrat Purchekov, who is responsible for construction work. The commission will meet every week to promptly consider and resolve emerging issues.

The head of state stressed that in order to resolve emerging issues, the members of the commission can invite any leader to the meeting. He also noted that, if possible, he himself will take part in several meetings and instructed to start holding them from next week.

Recall that at the moment the administrative center of the Ahal velayat is the city of Annau, located 10 kilometers east of Ashgabat. The President of Turkmenistan announced his intention to build a new center of the region, which will not be inferior to Ashgabat, in October 2018. The construction of the country's first “smart city” worth 1.5 billion US dollars was launched in April 2019. It is being erected in the very heart of the country, 30 kilometers southwest of the Turkmen capital.

The new administrative center will have “smart” residential buildings controlled via a smartphone, squares with a flagpole, buildings of the mayor's office and other institutions, as well as the Ruhyet Palace, the building of the velayat department of education and culture, a drama theater, a library, a clinic of infectious diseases, a museum, the Higher International horse breeding schools and the Horse Breeding Research and Production Center.

In October 2021, the head of state announced that the first phase of construction of the “Ahal” administrative center should be completed in December 2022 by the Day of Neutrality of Turkmenistan.
