Turkmen plant breeders have introduced a new variety of tomato

On the basis of the Scientific and Production Center of the Turkmen Agricultural Institute (Dashoguz), a new variety of ground tomato “Aynur” was obtained by crossing the varieties “Vostok 36x” and “Balkan”, the newspaper “Neutral Turkmenistan” reports.

The new variety is moderately resistant to aridity and plant diseases. It looks round, smooth, deep red in color. Its average weight is up to 110 grams, in a brush - up to 6 fruits of the same size. The fresh sugar content is 4.6%. The dry matter in the juice is 6.8%, sugar is 3.5%, acids are 0.5%, and the vitamin C content is 21.4 milligrams.

From the moment of mass ripening of seedlings until the first harvest, 116 days are required, the bearing part of the plant reaches 45 centimeters in height and 40 cm in width.

“Aynur” tomatoes are suitable for canning and for the production of tomato paste, the source notes.

Field trials of the variety were carried out from 2016 to 2018, after which the sample was sent for state examination. At this time, the variety is offered for industrial use.
