Today, an action to destroy drugs and contraband tobacco products seized during special operations carried out by law enforcement and military bodies of Turkmenistan took place on the territory of the Geokdepe etrap, the “Vatan” news program of Turkmen television reported.
The event was attended by the leaders of both chambers of parliament, members of the State Security Council, representatives of public organizations, the health sector, the media, as well as venerable elders.
Each of the participants in the current action sent seized narcotic substances, contraband tobacco and pharmaceutical products to the furnace of special ovens with their own hands. According to the regulations, the entire incineration process was supervised by law enforcement officers and authorized experts.
Today, Turkmenistan is developing partnerships with all interested states, authoritative international organizations and is actively working to combat drug trafficking. As a result of the well-coordinated interaction of military and law enforcement agencies, the volumes of illegal drugs trafficked to the territory of Turkmenistan are noticeably decreasing.
A reliable barrier to the spread of this global threat in the country is provided at the level of the Government and legislation that prohibits, since 2015, the use of acts of pardon and amnesty in relation to convicts found guilty of crimes related to the illegal circulation of drugs, psychotropic substances and precursors.
And last year, the President of Turkmenistan, 100 kilometers north of the capital, opened a complex designed to destroy narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.
