In Ashgabat, the issue of a project agreement on the opening of an FAO office was discussed

The issue of a project agreement on the opening of a representative office of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Turkmenistan was discussed at a personal meeting by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and FAO Subregional Coordinator for Central Asia Viorel Gutsu. This was reported on the website of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.

Gutsu's visit to Turkmenistan is associated with participation in the International Conference “Politics of Peace and Trust - the Basis of International Security, Stability and Development”.

The parties discussed in detail the priority areas of cooperation; an exchange of views took place on joint projects and programs in the field of promoting agricultural development and food security in a global context.

The parties also exchanged views on the FAO projects discussed during the negotiations, which were approved by Turkmenistan. Particular attention was paid to the use of advanced world practices in the field of assessing the food welfare of the population. Today in Turkmenistan, together with FAO, five specialized regional projects are being implemented.

The active role of the Turkmen state in international processes aimed at environmental protection, rational use of natural resources was emphasized, the source said.

Let us recall that recently President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov approved the opening of a representative office of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization in Turkmenistan.
