Today, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov instructed the ambassadors and consuls of Turkmenistan to Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan and Russia to strengthen preparations for the summit of the Caspian states.
At an expanded meeting with the participation of the heads of the diplomatic missions of Turkmenistan abroad, the Turkmen leader recalled that the summit was not held this year for obvious reasons. The head of state noted that Turkmenistan will hold the summit at a high organizational level and meaningfully, as soon as circumstances permit.
“Strengthening good-neighborly, friendly and fraternal relations with the countries of Central Asia and the Caspian region has been and remains one of the priorities,” Berdimuhamedov said.
According to the head of state, these tasks should always be among the priorities for the ambassadors of Turkmenistan abroad.
Earlier, during a telephone conversation with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov insisted on holding the summit in person, noting that this "will give an opportunity to consider in detail a number of topical issues."
