Turkmenistan took part in the forum on CIS seed production

The participants of the 23rd meeting of the Intergovernmental Coordination Council on Seed Production of the CIS, which took place in Samarkand, discussed the training of professional personnel, in particular, variety testers, breeders, seed breeders, geneticists, engineers.

The meeting was attended by plenipotentiaries from the member states of the Commonwealth, including Turkmenistan, delegates of the CIS Executive Committee, the Industrial and Scientific Seed Association (Association "Seeds"). This was reported in the publication "Turkmenistan: Golden Age".

The participants also discussed the achievements in the development of new methods of selection and seed production of cotton, the prospects for using the potential of botanical gardens in the greening of rural settlements, small and large cities.

Proposals were made to create a Central Asian breeding, seed-growing and technological center on the basis of a plant under construction - a branch of “Shchelkovo Agrokhim” JSC in the Samarkand region.

The 24th meeting of the Council is planned to be held in Tajikistan next year.

The Intergovernmental Coordination Council for CIS Seed Production was established by the Decision of the Council of CIS Heads of Governments dated October 18, 1996. Meetings of the Council are held as needed, but at least 2 times a year.
