This was stated by Diego Ruiz Alonso, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the European Union to Turkmenistan, at a briefing in Ashgabat.

A briefing on the topic "Turkmenistan - EU: the verge of partnership" summed up the first results of the work of the EU Delegation in the country. The participants were also familiarized with the key priorities of cooperation for the future, according to the newspaper "Neutral Turkmenistan".

Representatives of the embassies of the EU member states in Turkmenistan, employees of bilateral and regional EU projects, journalists from national media and foreign news agencies attended.

The head of the mission, speaking about the development of bilateral relations, stressed that over the years of diplomatic relations, Turkmenistan and the EU have accumulated positive experience of constructive cooperation. The culmination of these relations is marked by 2019, when the Agreement on the Establishment of the Delegation of the European Union in Turkmenistan was signed, which not only strengthened the EU's diplomatic presence in the country, but also became a qualitatively new step in the development of bilateral relations.

Various regional projects are aimed at realizing a fundamental goal in the EU strategy for Central Asia - regional integration. In this regard, the EU views Turkmenistan as an important and reliable partner.

Integration is the way to solve national and global problems and all-round development, the ambassador noted the diplomat. Today, the European Union, supporting projects in Turkmenistan and the region in such strategically important areas as security, trade, energy, rule of law, environment and education, support for the private sector, gender equality, as well as investment in youth, is one of the main donors.

Turkmenistan participates in over 20 projects funded by the European Union.

Within the framework of the Program document on cooperation between Turkmenistan and the EU for 2021-2027, the main attention will be focused on the development of a "green" economy and improvement of the business climate, the ambassador said.

The EU intends to attach particular importance to the support of entrepreneurs, women and youth.
