President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed condolences to Russian President Vladimir Putin in connection with the death of people as a result of the accident at the “Listvyazhnaya” coal mine in the Kemerovo region, the “Vatan” news program of Turkmen television reported.
“On behalf of the people and the government, as well as on his own behalf, the President of Turkmenistan conveyed words of empathy and support at this sorrowful moment to the families and friends of the victims, as well as wishes for a speedy recovery to the victims,” the message says.
The tragedy at a mine in Kuzbass occurred on Thursday morning. According to preliminary data, a fire broke out in one of the ventilation drifts. Coal dust is believed to have caught fire. According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, at the time of the incident, there were 285 miners in the mine. 239 people were evacuated from the mine. According to the latest data, 64 people were injured, 51 died, including five mine rescuers.
