The restoration of the work of the Inter-Parliamentary Groups of Turkmenistan and Russia, as well as the implementation of the existing potential, were discussed today by the Chairman of the Mejlis of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan Gulshat Mammedova and Speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko, council.gov.ru reports.
The meeting took place within the framework of the autumn session of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly in St. Petersburg.
The speaker of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation stressed that Russia is interested in expanding ties with friendly Turkmenistan on the entire spectrum of issues - in the economic sphere, in the field of education, culture, medicine.
According to Matvienko, the potential for cooperation between the two countries in this direction has not been exhausted.
Valentina Matvienko also noted the importance of harmonizing legislation in the CIS space. Model laws, on which all national parliaments are working, create good conditions for business, for strengthening economic cooperation, as well as for expanding humanitarian ties, the head of the upper house of the Russian parliament emphasized.
Gulshat Mammedova called the IPA CIS platform successful not only for studying the practice of legislative activity, but also for exchanging experience and developing relations.
The interlocutors also discussed the fight against the coronavirus pandemic and vaccination of the population.
