Turkmenistan took part in the 17th ministerial meeting “Central Asia - European Union”

The 17th ministerial meeting of the “Central Asia - European Union” format was held in Dushanbe today, the press service of the Tajik Foreign Ministry reported.

At the meeting, Turkmenistan was represented by Deputy Foreign Minister Vepa Hajiev. The meeting was also attended by the heads of the foreign ministries of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.

The meeting participants discussed key issues of political, economic, humanitarian interaction and security of Central Asia and the European Union, and also expressed their commitment to partnership in the areas of trade, investment, and the environment. Special attention was paid to the situation in Afghanistan.

The negotiators noted that the intra-Afghan crisis requires an immediate solution.

The EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security has expressed hope for deeper cooperation between Europe and Central Asia on this issue, Sputnik Tajikistan reports.
