The World SAMBO Championship with the participation of athletes from 50 countries starts in Tashkent in the sports complex "Uzbekistan". The tournament will be held from 12 to 14 November in sports for men and women, as well as in combat sambo.
This tournament will be the first world championship where the winners will be determined in 7 weight categories.
The prize fund of the World Championship is 231 thousand US dollars. World champions will receive 4 thousand each, silver medalists - 3 thousand each, bronze - 2 thousand each.
Athletes from 50 national teams are expected to take part in the tournament.
The competition will be held in special sanitary conditions associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. Competitors will need to regularly take PCR tests, as well as comply with all sanitary standards.
At the most important sporting event of the year, the SAMBO Federation of Turkmenistan will be represented by 20 athletes, SportMedia reports.
