Secretary of the Security Council of Turkmenistan discussed the situation in Afghanistan with colleagues from other countries in India

Vice-Premier, Secretary of the State Security Council of Turkmenistan Charymyrat Amanov took part in the regional dialogue on security in Afghanistan, which took place today in the capital of India - New Delhi, reports Afghanistan.ru.

The meeting was attended by Kazakhstan, India, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, who were represented by national security advisers or secretaries of the Security Councils.

Paying special attention to the security situation, as well as the regional and global consequences of recent events in the region, the meeting participants agreed on closer coordination of states in the Afghan direction, primarily in the field of combating terrorism and extremism, illegal drug trafficking and uncontrolled migration.

Representatives of the Security Councils stressed that the territory of Afghanistan should not be used for sheltering, training, planning or financing any terrorist groups.

In the opinion of the parties, the UN should play a central role in Afghanistan and that its further presence in the country should be preserved.

The parties also pledged to provide assistance to Afghanistan to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Following the talks, the participants in the meeting signed a joint statement.

The next meeting of the Secretaries of the Security Councils on Afghanistan is scheduled for 2022.
