On November 6, in Turkmenistan, with the participation of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the next stage of a large-scale greening campaign was launched, providing for the expansion of “green belts” around the cities and villages of the country, the “Neutral Turkmenistan” newspaper reported today.

The tree-planting event was also attended by members of the Government, representatives of ministries and departments of the country, university students and residents of Turkmenistan.

According to the Turkmen Foreign Ministry, the current greening campaign is carried out in accordance with the National Strategy of Turkmenistan on Climate Change and is aimed at implementing SDG Goal 15 - “Protecting, restoring and promoting sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainable forest management, combating desertification, ending and reversing the process of land degradation and stopping the process of loss of biological diversity”.

In the early morning, numerous participants of the action gathered on the territory of the cultural and park complex Mahtumkuli Fraghi, which is located in the southern part of the capital, at a monument that rises to the skies.

Let us remind you that on October 26 of this year, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov made a working trip to the southern part of the capital, where he got acquainted with the work that had entered the final stage around the cultural and park complex of Makhtumkuli Fraghi. At the same time, the leader of the nation noted the advisability of holding the autumn season of mass planting of tree seedlings here, which will contribute to ensuring the ecological well-being of this natural corner, and gave specific instructions to the relevant leaders.

Having warmly greeted the audience, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov went to the site prepared for planting work.

A representative of the country's young generation approaches the head of state. At the request of the child, the President of the country starts a greening campaign and plants the first tree - the Turkmen juniper, which is important in the restoration of forests in the mountainous regions of the Motherland.

Currently, in the foothills of the capital, areas occupied by juniper plantations have expanded. Even today, more than 61 thousand 200 juniper saplings “settled” on 153 hectares of the territory and environs of the cultural and park complex of Mahtumkuli Fraghi.

The example of the leader of the nation was followed by the participants of this noble action.

During the current greening campaign, a total of 4 million 248 thousand 740 seedlings of coniferous trees and other species were planted, including 1 million 835 thousand 740 seedlings - around Ashgabat and in its vicinity and 2 million 413 thousand - in the velayats. On this day 3 million 590 thousand 740 trees were provided with caring care throughout the country.

On many thousands of hectares in different parts of the Motherland, as well as in the picturesque foothills in the vicinity of the Turkmen capital, today there are green oases.

Based on the recommendations of the Convention and its obligations under the Paris Agreement, Turkmenistan is making practical efforts in the field of climate change, planting millions of tree seedlings every year. So, in 2020, 25 million trees were planted. And in 2021, marked by the 30th anniversary of the independence of the Motherland, in Ashgabat and the velayats of the country, according to the Decree of the President of Turkmenistan, 30 million seedlings of deciduous, coniferous, fruit trees and grapes will be planted. Of these, 10 million seedlings will flow into the green decoration of the capital.
