The XXVI International Conference "Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan-2021" has started today at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The forum is timed to the anniversary date - the 30th anniversary of the country's independence. The organizers are the state concerns "Turkmengas", "Turkmeneft" and the State Corporation "Turkmengeology" in partnership with the ES "Turkmen Forum" with the support of the British company "GaffneyCline". This year the forum is being held in a hybrid format.

In Turkmenistan, which has colossal reserves of hydrocarbon resources, the oil and gas industry is the leading sector of the national economy. More and more attention is paid to the innovative development of the fuel and energy complex. Key areas are the optimal implementation of the richest potential of the oil and gas complex, the modernization of the core infrastructure based on advanced technologies and developments, where special attention is paid to the environmental factor, the increase in the capacity of the mining and processing sectors, and the diversification of export routes for “blue fuel” supplies.

The forum attracted representatives of over 100 companies, large international organizations and banks from more than 30 states, heads of government agencies, relevant ministries and departments, as well as representatives of foreign media accredited in Turkmenistan.

The audience listened with great attention to the Address of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov at the opening ceremony of the forum.

The plenary session of the current conference was dedicated to the trends and prospects of the development of the global energy system, the formation of a new architecture of the global energy system. The importance of access to low-carbon energy and the export of natural gas from Turkmenistan was discussed.

An important step towards the implementation of the energy strategy of Turkmenistan, strengthening the raw material base of export gas pipelines was the commissioning of the world's largest gas field "Galkynysh", from which the transnational gas pipeline Turkmenistan-China originates. This system has been used to export Turkmen natural gas to the PRC for more than eleven years.

Increase in oil production, strengthening the industry's resource base due to the search and exploration of new hydrocarbon deposits, intensification of drilling and workover of wells, including by attracting specialized foreign companies and their capital investments was also noted.

Within the framework of the forum today a Memorandum of Understanding on the production of ammonia and methanol by monetizing natural gas was signed between the State Concern “Turkmengas” and Haldor Topsoe A/S (Kingdom of Denmark); contract between the State Corporation "Turkmengeology" and Yug-Neftegaz Private Limited (Republic of Singapore) for conducting 3D and 2D exploration in the eastern part of the Goturdepe oil and gas field in the Balkan zone in the west of Turkmenistan and in the South Burun area; contract for the development and construction of the third shipyard for the processing of oil and oil products Turkmenbashi oil processing complex and Petro Gas LLP (Great Britain).
