The preparations for the 6th Caspian Summit and the 15th meeting of the heads of the member states of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) to be held in Turkmenistan were discussed today in Tehran by Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov with Iranian President Seyed Ebrahim Raisi.

According to the press service of the Foreign Ministry, Raisi and Meredov also exchanged views on the state and prospects of partnership between Iran and Turkmenistan in various fields.

According to the participants in the meeting, the two countries have a solid potential in the field of political-diplomatic, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian interaction.

Recall that the V summit of the heads of the Caspian countries was held in 2018 in the city of Aktau (Kazakhstan). The summit meeting resulted in the signing of the Convention on the Legal Status of the Caspian Sea. The document is indefinite and will enter into force after ratification by all five signatory states. To date, the Convention has been ratified by four parties: Turkmenistan (December 2018), Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan (February 2019), Russia (October 2019).
