The national tennis team of Turkmenistan made it to the Davis Cup playoffs in the IV group of the zone of Asia and Oceania, the matches of which are held in the city of Madinat Isa (Bahrain) with the participation of 12 teams. She achieved this success ahead of schedule, one round before the end of the group stage of the competition, the website “Turkmenistan: Golden Age” reports.

The program of the second game day in group B, in which the Turkmen tennis players play, was opened by the meeting between the teams of Iraq and Oman. The Iraqis, whom the Turkmenistan representatives won at the start of the tournament - 3: 0, beat the Omanis with the same score. Thus, before the match with the Mongolian national team, the team of Turkmenistan had an excellent chance to advance to the playoffs ahead of schedule.

And Mirali Hasanov's wards brilliantly took advantage of it, crushing the Mongolian national team, which occupies 129th place in the world tennis rating, today - 3: 0. In the first meeting, Yuri Rogusskiy gave his opponent Hatansuikh Batbayar only two games - a 6: 1, 6: 1 victory. Isa Mammetgulyev defeated Suhbaatar Puntsag in two sets - 6: 0, 6: 0. In doubles, Yuri Rogussky and Isa Mammetgulyev defeated the duet Oyunboldu Baatar - Hatansuikh Batbayar - 6: 0, 6: 2.

In the final match of the group stage, which will no longer have a tournament value for our compatriots, the national team of Turkmenistan has to play with the team of Oman, after which the playoffs will take place.

The teams of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Iran and Cambodia, who also won two victories at the Davis Cup zonal tournament, advanced to the playoffs from other groups. The full lineup of the playoff participants will be known based on the results of the final meetings of the group stage of the competition.

As a reminder, the top three teams following the results of the playoffs will be eligible to play in Group III of the Asia and Oceania zone next year.
