President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov invited the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States to an international conference of ministers from landlocked developing countries to be held in Ashgabat in April 2022. The head of Turkmenistan announced his invitation today at a meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the CIS.
Berdimuhamedov noted that the international conference will be organized jointly with the UN. According to him, it will provide a good opportunity for “concrete, practical dialogue” on international transport cooperation in emergency and post-crisis conditions.
“This is relevant for most countries. We look forward to the participation of our colleagues from the Commonwealth and a thorough and practical discussion of the prospects for cooperation,” the President of Turkmenistan said.
Touching upon the adopted strategy for the economic development of the CIS until 2030, the head of Turkmenistan highlighted such areas as transport, the fuel and energy complex, communications, industrial cooperation, trade, technology innovation.
“These are the sectors in which we can successfully compete in international markets, offer potential partners favorable conditions,” Berdimuhamedov said.
