President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov arrived in Tashkent today on a two-day official visit, the press service of the President of Uzbekistan reported.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov was met by Shavkat Mirziyoyev at the airport named after Islam Karimov in Tashkent.
Berdimuhamedov, accompanied by Mirziyoyev, visited Mustakillik Square and laid flowers at the foot of the Monument of Independence and Humanism.
The summit talks will take place tomorrow at the Kuksaroy residence.
The agenda of the upcoming summit meeting includes issues of building up economic cooperation, primarily in the areas of trade, transport and transit, energy, promoting cooperation projects in industry, agriculture and water management, enhancing contacts between the regions of the two countries, implementing joint cultural and humanitarian exchange programs.
The leaders of the countries will also exchange views on topical issues of international politics and regional cooperation.
Following the talks, it is envisaged to adopt a Joint Statement of the Heads of State, sign a solid package of documents and contracts aimed at developing a multifaceted partnership.
