UNDP and World Bank reunite efforts to improve Turkmenistan's preparedness for a global pandemic

In order to implement the Covid-19 Response project, the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry, together with the United Nations Development Program, entered into an agreement.

This project is financed by the World Bank and has a budget of $ 20 million.

The Covid-19 Response program aims to strengthen the country's response and timely response to the pandemic. Within its framework, activities will be carried out throughout the country aimed at improving national capacity in the field of medical care, improving the professional training of medical personnel, purchasing reagents, medicines, eliminating health risks and using digital technologies for effective control and monitoring of infectious diseases.

The project will contribute to the implementation of the Turkmenistan Acute Infectious Disease Preparedness and Response Plan (CPRP), implemented with the participation of UN agencies in Turkmenistan. The program also establishes joint preventive and response measures to combat Covıd-19.

In her speech, Natia Natsvlishvili, Acting UNDP Resident Representative in Turkmenistan, noted:

“We are honored to be involved in this vital initiative to help the country strengthen the capacity of the health sector in response to global pandemics. UNDP stands ready, together with other partners, to continue its efforts to mitigate the impact of the global pandemic, using its best resources, knowledge and experience, building on the fundamental principle of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development - leave no one behind.”
