The President of Turkmenistan arrived in Tajikistan to participate in the SCO summit

Today President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov left on a working visit to Tajikistan to participate in the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Officials escorted the Turkmen leader at the Ashgabat international airport.

A few hours later, the presidential airliner landed at Dushanbe international airport. Here, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov was met by Prime Minister of Tajikistan Kokhir Rasulzoda and other officials, NIAT “Khovar” reports.

The President of Turkmenistan will take part in the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the SCO Member States as a guest of honor.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization celebrates the 20th anniversary this year.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is an international organization founded by the leaders of China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. Now the organization also includes India and Pakistan. In 2021, Tajikistan will chair the SCO.

It should be noted that Turkmenistan often takes an active part in high-level meetings of the SCO. In 2016, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov took part in the anniversary meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Tashkent.
