The CIS, 2023 will be declared the Year of the Russian language

The draft action plan regarding the announcement of 2023 as the Year of the Russian language as the language of interethnic communication is discussed at the next meeting of the Council for Cultural Cooperation of the CIS Members, whose work started yesterday in Minsk in a mixed format, the press service of the CIS Executive Committee reports.

In addition, experts from Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Uzbekistan, the National Historical Museum of Belarus, the International Delphic Committee and the CIS Executive Committee, participating in the meeting, will discuss about 20 issues. Among them - the implementation of the main events in the field of culture for 2021-2025, consideration of the issues of holding the Year of Folk Art and Cultural Heritage in the CIS in 2022, holding events dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

In addition, the experts will consider the draft Convention on the Preservation of Cultural Heritage Sites, and will also consider the initiative to implement the International Project of the CIS Member States “Precious Necklace of the Commonwealth”, the press service said.
