Today, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov sent deep condolences to his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan in connection with large-scale floods in Sinop, Kastamonu and Bartin provinces, which led to numerous casualties, injuries and enormous destruction, the “Vatan” TV news program reported.
“At this difficult moment, on behalf of the people and the Government of the country, as well as on his own behalf, the President of Turkmenistan expressed deep empathy and conveyed words of support to the families and friends of the victims and wishes of a speedy recovery to the victims,” the statement said.
On August 11, 2021, large-scale floods began in northern Turkey. The floods were caused by heavy precipitation. 44 people were killed, 284 injured, over 1,700 people were evacuated. The number of missing persons varies, but it is reported that their number exceeds 100. The regions affected by the floods have been declared a disaster zone.
