He won with Olympic and world records in snatch, clean and jerk and combined. As a result of two exercises, L. Talahadze gained 488 kg (223 + 265), becoming a two-time Olympic champion. Five years ago, at the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, he became the champion with the result of 473 kg.
The second was Ali Davudi from Iran - 441 kg (200 + 241). The top three was closed by Man Asaad from Syria - 424 kg (190 + 234).
Turkmen weightlifter Hojamuhammet Toychiev stopped one step away from the medal, taking 4th place. He gained a total of 414 kg (184 + 230), 10 kg behind the bronze medalist.
According to the results of the Olympic Games in Tokyo, the Turkmen national team has one award: silver of Polina Guryeva (weightlifting, up to 59 kg).
