President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev will pay an official visit to Turkmenistan on August 6, 2021, where he will take part in the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia. This was reported by the Sputnik agency with reference to the spokesman for the Uzbek leader.
During the summit, issues related to the development of regional cooperation will be discussed.
The summit in Turkmenistan will be the third meeting of the presidents of the Central Asian countries. It was originally planned to be held in Kyrgyzstan last year, but due to the coronavirus pandemic, it was postponed to 2021. On October 8, 2020, President of
Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov proposed to hold the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia in 2021 in Turkmenistan.
The first summit of the heads of state of Central Asia was held in 2018 in Nur-Sultan, and the second in 2019 in Tashkent.
