The Ashgabat silk-winding factory has started processing the harvest of silkworm cocoons, “Turkmenistan: Golden Age” reports.

This year the harvest amounted to 2,100 tons of high-quality raw materials.

The cocoon-winding shop processes from one and a half tons of raw silk per day, while the average length of silk from one cocoon reaches 600-800 meters.

Finished silk threads are formed into yarn, which is supplied to the Ashgabat panne velvet factory, and is also purchased by domestic entrepreneurs for the production of silk products.

The Ashgabat silk-winding factory, which dates back to 1928, is one of the oldest enterprises in the textile industry of Turkmenistan. The company's products are in demand not only within the country, but also abroad.

Earlier we reported that 2,100 tons of silkworm cocoons were produced in Turkmenistan.
