Medical products with a total weight of about 12 tons were sent to Turkmenistan by Russia today as humanitarian aid. This was reported by the state website "Turkmenistan: Golden Age" with reference to the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation.

The message says that as part of the cargo, an Il-76 aircraft of the Russian Emergencies Ministry will deliver medicines, protective clothing, masks and medical equipment to Ashgabat.

As reported by the "Interfax-Azerbaijan" news agency, Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov, who is on a working visit to Moscow, thanked the Russian side for the friendly gesture during negotiations with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

“I would like to thank the Russian colleagues for the friendly gesture - the plane of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, in my opinion, today lands in Turkmenistan with the direction of the necessary medical products that are in demand in Turkmenistan today in order to prevent the spread of infection,” R. Meredov said.

He stressed that the authorities of Turkmenistan are grateful to Russia "for the support that the Russian Federation has provided to Turkmenistan in countering the pandemic," having previously provided 186 thousand test systems for determining coronavirus infection, of which 120 thousand were free of charge.

Recall that in May last year, Turkmenistan, by the order of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, donated food and industrial products, as well as textiles and building materials to the Russian side “as a gesture of friendship and good neighborliness”.
