President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov visited the Center for Digital Systems today to discuss priorities in the field of digitalization.

According to the State Information Agency of Turkmenistan, the main activity of the Center is to ensure cybersecurity of information and communication systems in the ministries and departments, as well as in the structures under their jurisdiction and local self-government bodies.

In accordance with the Regulation on the State Commission on Cyber Security, approved by the Decree of the President of Turkmenistan, systematic measures are being taken to address the problems arising from the State Cyber Security Program and its Implementation Plan for 2017-2021.

Turkmenistan has adopted the Law on Electronic Documentation, Electronic Document Circulation and Digital Services, as well as a number of documents on the creation of electronic document circulation and Internet websites in the ministries and departments of the Internet. As a result, many websites have been created and registered in our country. 

Economic society “Sanly çözgüt - IT meýdança” (“Digital solution - IT platform”) has been established on the basis of the Institute of Telecommunications and Informatics, whose specialists take orders for the introduction and launch of digital systems.

One of the main tasks in the work is to ensure the security of the information base. In this regard, the Head of State noted the importance of creating the necessary conditions for strengthening the material and technical base of the industry, as well as training specialists in this field and raising their professional level.

Speaking about this, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized the need for systematic improvement, in line with the requirements of the time, of the activities of the State Cybersecurity Service, created under the agency “Turkmenaragatnashyk”, which is aimed at further improving the efficiency of the security work.

In this context, Turkmenistan's Cyber Security Act is of paramount importance in safeguarding sovereignty, the interests of the country, the prevention of network security threats, as well as the provision of public law, legal rights and the interests of organizations and citizens.

The relevance of this Law, which was developed on the instructions of the Head of State, determines the processes of digitization that have become widespread in Turkmenistan.

“Implementation of the Center for Digital Cyber Security at the modern level, further modernization of this activity in accordance with world practice is very relevant in the context of the implementation of the Concept of Development of the Digital Economy in our country. Therefore, the work in this direction should be given priority,” Berdimuhamedov said, addressing a number of specific tasks.

Emphasizing the importance of the activities of the State Cybersecurity Service under the agency “Turkmenaragatnashyk”, the President of Turkmenistan focused on its main aspects.

“The main task is to implement cyber security policies in the country, to carry out centralized control, to coordinate the work of cyber security groups,” the leader said.

Noting a number of other tasks in this area, the Head of State addressed the relevant instructions to the Deputy Prime Minister, Secretary of the State Security Council Charymyrat Amanov.
