New specialties to be opened in two universities of Turkmenistan

New specialties - Internet journalism and political communication - will soon appear at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the International University for Humanities and Development. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov gave the relevant instructions to the rectors of these universities at a working meeting on the implementation of the country's foreign policy, which was held today, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports.

The head of state also instructed to analyze the possibilities of opening other new specialties at IMO and MUGNiR, including in such areas as oriental studies, countries of America and Europe, digital diplomacy, cybersecurity, analytics and strategic planning.

Along with traditional classes, the head of Turkmenistan ordered to organize online lectures in universities, ensure the participation of students in specialized scientific and educational competitions and competitions, invite famous foreign scientists and diplomats to give lectures, and effectively use Internet technologies for these purposes.

“If necessary, it is necessary to revise the curricula, as well as pay special attention to the language training of students, where it is appropriate to use innovation and digital technologies,” Berdymukhamedov stressed.

The head of state said that in order to develop and unleash the potential of transport, energy, water, scientific and sports diplomacy of Turkmenistan, the horizons of research work of professors, teachers and students in this area should be expanded.

The leader of the nation also noted that along with the improvement of professional skills, it is necessary to cultivate such qualities as patriotism, adherence to high moral and humanistic values among young international specialists.

IMO MFA of Turkmenistan was established on March 20, 2008. Currently, at the university, students receive education in four specialties: international relations and diplomacy, international law, international economic relations and international journalism.

The International University for Humanities and Development was established on May 16, 2014. The university has six faculties: Social Sciences, English Studies, International Economics and Management, International Law and International Relations, International Technology and International Development.
