Today, a telephone conversation took place between the head of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan Gulshat Mammedova and the Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko.
The Speaker of Federation Council addressed the President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and all Turkmen people congratulations and best wishes in regard of coming New 2021 Year, which is proclaimed by the General Assembly on the initiative of Turkmen Leader as the International year of peace and confidence.
Emphasizing the importance of the status of neutrality of Turkmenistan, the 25th anniversary of the acquisition of which this year was widely celebrated, the Chairperson of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation noted the enormous role of the principles of Turkmen neutralism in modern world relations.
As noted during the conversation, Turkmenistan and Russia are committed to age-old friendly ties, and their cooperation has been and remains one of the strategic directions of the foreign policy strategy of the heads of both states.
As V. Matvienko emphasized, thanks to the great importance attached by Presidents Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Vladimir Putin to the development of contacts at the level of parliaments, today there is close interaction within the framework of the Interparliamentary Assembly of CIS member states.
During the exchange of views on key areas of bilateral cooperation, the parties spoke in favor of further deepening relations and concretizing its promising aspects.
Noting the importance of implementing new joint projects designed to use the existing potential and serve to strengthen traditionally productive contacts, the heads of parliaments voiced a number of specific proposals.
Big opportunities for extension of mutual dialog opens in relation with the transfer to a bicameral system of the highest legislative and representative body of Turkmenistan. In this context, stating the role of parliamentary friendship groups, the parties spoke in favor of organizing an exchange of experience between the deputy corps of the two friendly countries, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports.
