As informs today’s newspaper “Neutral Turkmenistan”, on the 16th of December the first meeting of the Steering Committee for the implementation of the “Framework Program for Cooperation in the Field of Sustainable Development between Turkmenistan and the United Nations for 2021-2025” was held in the Ministry of Economy and Finance of Turkmenistan.
Heads and employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Economy and Finance of Turkmenistan, also the representatives of more than 30 other ministries and establishments of the country, as well as UN Resident Coordinator and heads of UN structural divisions in Turkmenistan participated in the meeting.
Particularly was pointed the importance of joint systematic work of Turkmenistan and the UN on the basis of medium and long-term plans and programs.
The Framework Program for Cooperation in the Field of Sustainable Development between Turkmenistan and the United Nations for 2021-2025 was signed in the march of this year.
New five-year program implies participation of more UN agencies in its implementation, which testifies extension of frames of cooperation of Turkmenistan and the UN specialized institutions.
Speaking at the meeting, UN Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan Elena Panova expressed gratitude to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for the constant attention given to the issues of comprehensive development of strategic partnership with the UN and its key structures, as well as active assistance in the implementation of joint programs and projects.
The parties also reviewed the progress achieved in the implementation of the current Partnership Framework Program, the effectiveness of which was clearly demonstrated by the presentations prepared by the representatives of UNICEF, WHO, UNDP and UNFPA in Turkmenistan.
Then interested exchange of views on Framework Program for five-year period, in the meantime, special attention was paid to the development of a “road map” for its implementation. The presentation of management mechanisms and implementation of this Program, strategy on its financing, also a monitoring and executed work estimation plan were presented.
Already in the first quarter of 2021 mutual resources mobilization strategy of State team of UN will be reviewed, as well as recommendations and proposals on financing of Framework Program and mobilizing resources for the implementation of Agenda for Sustainable Development until 2030 at the national level.
At the end of the meeting Minutes of meeting of the first Steering Committee meetings was signed, where practical steps on implementation of this cooperation Program are reflected.
