The newly appointed Ambassador extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan Yamamoto Hiroyuki started working in Turkmenistan, presenting his credentials to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov today.

Congratulating Yamamoto Hiroyuki on his appointment to a responsible diplomatic post, the leader of the nation wished him success in further strengthening the long-term bilateral cooperation, which at the present stage has reached a qualitatively new level, the state news Agency of Turkmenistan reports.

A clear confirmation of the success of the bilateral partnership, which is built on a long-term basis, is the productive work of world-famous Japanese companies in our country, their participation in the implementation of important infrastructure projects.

Examples include the construction of large industrial complexes: in Mary-for the production of ammonia and urea, in the Balkan velayat – for the production of urea fertilizers in Garabogaz, polyethylene and polypropylene – in Kiyanli, in the Akhal velayat plant for the production of environmentally friendly synthetic automobile fuel-gasoline from natural gas.

Currently, with the participation of Japanese partners, a new state-of-the-art gas turbine power plant is being built in the Charjev etrap of the Lebap velayat.

Following the course of industrialization, modernization and diversification of the national economy, our country is focused on the accelerated development of high-tech industries. This opens up new opportunities for effective cooperation, including increasing the volume of trade, strengthening direct business contacts, stimulating investment activity, and creating joint ventures aimed at producing high-quality competitive products.

Humanitarian contacts are also an integral part of the interstate dialogue. In this regard, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the Japanese diplomat noted the dynamic nature of bilateral relations in science, education and culture.

Thus, the opening of the Oguzkhan University of Engineering and technology in Ashgabat in 2016 is an important step towards deepening fruitful cooperation in the scientific and educational sphere. Close contacts have been established between Turkmen and Japanese universities. It is also noteworthy that currently in our country, Japanese is studied not only in higher educational institutions, but also in a number of secondary schools.

Cultural and creative exchanges also play a significant role in the development of bilateral relations, allowing the peoples of both countries to get to know each other's unique national heritage, unique traditions and customs.

Among them are the centuries – old traditions of tea drinking, which are inextricably linked with the rich culture of Turkmenistan and Japan, where the methods of preparing this healing drink are equated with genuine art. At the same time, there are good opportunities for expanding cooperation in the field of health, as well as in the field of sports.

Expressing deep gratitude to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for his constant attention to the issues of Turkmen-Japanese relations, Yamamoto Hiroyuki stressed that it is a great honor for him to represent Japan in our country, assuring that he will make every effort to successfully continue effective bilateral cooperation.

At the end of the meeting, the leader of the nation and the Japanese diplomat reaffirmed the unwavering commitment of Turkmenistan and Japan to a constructive interstate dialogue based on the principles of equality, mutual respect and long-term strategic partnership.
