Turkmenistan and Korea held the eighth session of the Intergovernmental Commission on cooperation

Today, the 8th meeting of the intergovernmental Turkmen-Korean Commission on trade, economic, scientific and technological cooperation was held, the key topic of which was the diversification of mutually beneficial cooperation in a wide range of areas.

In a video link, the parties discussed the implementation of the agreements reached, as well as further steps to deepen cooperation in the political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres.

During the meeting, the participants noted with satisfaction the high level of bilateral relations established in recent years, which are characterized by positive dynamics.

An example of mutually beneficial cooperation in the creation of high-tech industries based on processing of local raw materials in various industries serve as major projects with participation of Korean companies in construction of a plant for desulfurization of natural gas field "Galkynysh", the modernization of the Turkmenbashi complex of oil refineries, the construction of a gas chemical complex producing polyethylene and polypropylene in Kiyanly settlement in Balkan velayat.

The members of the Commission from the Korean side stressed their readiness to continue productive partnership and actively participate in important projects of national and regional significance implemented by our country.

In particular, cooperation in the field of transport is seen as promising, taking into account the initiatives of the Turkmen leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on the formation of multimodal transit and transport corridors in the

North-South and East-West directions, as well as the modernization of infrastructure in this area.

By the way, currently a significant part of the public transport fleet in our country is made up of Korean-made buses and cars, which will continue to be delivered in the future.

They also expressed mutual interest in continuing cooperation in a number of other areas, including in the construction sector, the textile industry, communications, culture, science, education, sports, health, water resources management, etc.

The parties discussed in detail the issues of holding the 4th meeting of the Turkmen-Korean Business Council in Seoul in 2021, created on the initiative of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

A proposal was made to establish links between the commodity exchanges of the two countries, to hold exhibitions, conferences, business meetings and forums on a regular basis.

The participants of the online meeting expressed confidence that all the agreements reached will give a new impetus to the deepening of the multi-faceted Turkmen-Korean dialogue in the interests of both States and their fraternal peoples.

A Protocol was signed following the meeting, the state news Agency of Turkmenistan reports.
