Turkmen cotton growers have successfully fulfilled their contractual obligations to harvest the "white gold" crop, delivering 1 million 250 thousand tons of raw material to the Harman of the Motherland for the first time. Deputy Prime Minister Esenmyrat Orazgeldiev, who oversees the agro-industrial complex, reported this to the President of Turkmenistan at an expanded meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers today, the State news Agency reports.
This year, the plan for cotton harvesting was increased by 200,000 tons due to a decrease in the acreage for wheat.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov cordially congratulated the brave cotton growers and all the workers of the agricultural sector on fulfilling their contractual obligations to procure "white gold" and wished them good health, family well-being and further great success in their creative work for the sake of strengthening the country's food security and ensuring food abundance.
Having announced the decision to award state awards to distinguished employees of the industry who have achieved high performance, the leader of the nation signed a Decree and instructed to hold a high-level ceremony honoring the heroes of agro field in the conference hall of the Agricultural University. Celebrations on the occasion of the harvest Festival will take place on November 8.
