Foreign citizens will be able to stay in Russia without renewing their documents until December 15, 2020. Russian President Vladimir Putin agreed to this. The corresponding decree was published on September 23 on the Internet portal of legal information.
The document extends the period of temporary or permanent stay of foreigners and stateless persons in the Russian Federation and the period for which they are registered at the place of stay, if it expires earlier.
The Russian leader made changes to his decree of April 18, 2020, issued in connection with the spread of coronavirus infection. The deadline set by the previous decree ended on September 15.
It is also now allowed for foreigners to travel to their home country with identity documents that have expired after March 14, 2020.
The document entered into force on September 16, 2020.
