Significant progress is being made in the construction of the Ashgabat-Turkmenabat highway

The construction of the Ashgabat-Turkmenabat high-speed highway, 600 km long, is carried out in three stages. According to the plan, the first part of the transport artery will connect the capital with the Tejen etrap. Work here should be completed by the end of 2020. The second section, Tejen - Mary, is scheduled to be completed in 2022. The final third section of Mary-Turkmenabat should be completed in 2023.

Currently, the construction picture is as follows: the total amount of work performed on the first 100 km section is 63%, on the 100-203 km section – 80%, on the 203-600 km highway – 15%. This is reported by the newspaper “Rysgal".

On the 100 km section, work has been completed to remove the vegetation layer, bring the roadbed to the level specified in the project, and lay geotextiles and gravel-sand mixture. Completed construction of the sidewalk.

In accordance with engineering requirements, the 1st and 2nd layers of the canvas are laid 30 centimeters thick, the 3rd and 4th layers are 20 centimeters thick. The total thickness of the gravel and stone roadbed is 1 meter.
60 drainage channels of various sizes have been prepared on the 203rd kilometer, and construction works are underway on 16 of them. 18 crossings for agricultural machinery and animals have been fully built, and construction is continuing on 8 of them.

The highway project provides for all the infrastructure that meets international standards.

About 3,500 construction workers, more than 2,200 units of special equipment and vehicles are involved in the construction.

The highway will have eight lanes, three main and one additional on each side. The roadbed will be 35 meters wide.

It is planned to build a Central station of the road supervision service and 4 recreation areas along the entire highway, as well as 4 bridges over rivers, 4 bridges over the railway, 22 bridges at the intersection with other highways, 76 underground pedestrian crossings and a special passage for animals, water collectors over mudslides, interchanges and other objects.

It is planned to build 10 stations for the necessary maintenance of the high-speed highway.

The project with a total cost of 2 billion 300 million US dollars is planned to be fully completed by 2023.

The construction of the Ashgabat-Turkmenabat highway started on January 24, 2019. The high-speed highway will make it possible to speed up and increase the volume of cargo transportation through the territory of Turkmenistan.
