Trade between Iran and Turkmenistan has resumed through the Sarakhs border terminal in the North-East of Iran's Razavi Khorasan province, Iran's MEHR news Agency reported, citing the head of the Sarakhs border terminal.
Mohamad Mehdi Rezai said that the gates of the new border bridge that connects the city of Sarakhs in Iran with Turkmenistan were opened for 3 days.
Ten Iranian trucks with cargo can enter the zero point of the Sarakhs border every day and deliver their trailers to the trucks of the Turkmen side. These actions will be carried out in accordance with recent agreements between officials of Iran and Turkmenistan.
The head of the border terminal added “Turkmen drivers will be able to transport Iranian cargo to the final destination, and then deliver an empty trailer to Iranian drivers in Sarakhs.”
He also added that the same operation can be carried out at this border crossing to transport Turkmen cargo by Iranian truckers to the country.
The Sarakhs border terminal is located in Razavi Khorasan province, northeast of Iran, on the common border with Turkmenistan. This border is 186 km from Mashhad, the center of Razavi Khorasan province.
Earlier, we reported that Turkmenistan and Iran discussed the promotion of trade, economic and transport ties.
