Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan and Afghanistan have agreed on steps to increase cargo traffic along the Lapis Lazuli corridor

A trilateral online meeting was held with the participation of representatives of the transport sector of Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan and Afghanistan, "Turkmenistan: The Golden age" reports.

During the meeting, issues related to the implementation of the Afghanistan-Turkmenistan-Azerbaijan-Georgia-Turkey international transit and transport corridor (Lapis Lazuli) project were discussed.

Some of the key issues on the meeting's agenda were:

  • optimization of the transport and logistics process;
  • creating equal economic and financial conditions for all participants;
  • introduction of a unified pricing policy for cargo transportation on the Afghanistan-Turkmenistan-Azerbaijan route and in the opposite direction.

The participants agreed on steps to increase cargo traffic along the Lapis Lazuli corridor.

During the negotiations, the appointment of a single operator from each party and the establishment of an end-to-end tariff rate were considered. JSC "Transport and logistics center of Turkmenistan" has been designated as the responsible operator from our country.

The next trilateral meeting will be held at the end of September.
