Turkmenistan has adopted a new law on amendments to the criminal code of Turkmenistan.

According to the law, article 119 of the criminal code of Turkmenistan on deliberate infection with AIDS is supplemented by article 1191 "malicious evasion from treatment of a recognized dangerous infectious disease of an epidemic or pandemic nature and deliberate infection with it".

According to the article, for malicious evasion, flight from treatment, knowingly creating a danger of infecting others with this disease, you can be imprisoned for up to 2 years.

Repeated violations are punishable by up to 5 years in prison.

Those who assist violators will also be punished with a prison term of up to 3 years and disqualification from holding certain positions.

The law will come into force on September 7, 2020.
