Badhyz nature reserve, Kopetdag mountain, Repetek state biosphere reserve of Turkmenistan, as well as the southern Ustyurt plateau, may soon become UNESCO world heritage sites, Trend reports with reference to the regional office of the International Union for conservation of nature (IUCN) Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
Today, three major historical and cultural reserves of Turkmenistan are included in the UNESCO world heritage List. These Are the state historical and cultural Park Ancient Merv, Kunyaurgench, and the Parthian Fortresses of Nisa. Another 8 sites on the territory of Turkmenistan are among the candidates for inclusion in the world heritage list.
