The national television of Turkmenistan together with UNICEF launched a series of short videos on disease prevention with the participation of Turkmen comedian and presenter Ashyr Dade, the UN press center reports.
Through videos that have been on TV since June, Ashyr Dade shares important tips on how to wash your hands, ensure food safety, observe etiquette when sneezing and coughing, keep surfaces clean and call a doctor if someone in the family shows symptoms of diseases. UNICEF started working with Ashyr Dade a year ago when, together with the national television of Turkmenistan, a children's show about children's rights "For you, children!" (Siziň üçin, körpeler!) was produced by Ashyr Dade.
Broadcasting videos about disease prevention contributes to the involvement of children and parents in the process of taking care of their own health.
"It's a great honor to work with UNICEF and share vital messages with our younger audience and their parents," the actor says.
The videos were well received by the population, and inspired by their success, the state broadcasting Committee of Turkmenistan and UNICEF took another initiative to prevent a pandemic in the country by producing a series of animated videos for children featuring a girl Merjen and a boy Mergen, which encourage their peers to observe hygiene rules.
The series will include five animated videos, one of which is already being broadcast on national television.
