A trilateral online meeting was held today between Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov, foreign Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammedyarov and acting foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Mohammad Hanif Atmar.
There was an exchange of views and proposals on the implementation of the agreements reached during the trilateral videoconference of the Presidents of Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan and Afghanistan, held earlier this month. One of the main topics of the meeting, as you know, was to improve cooperation within the international transport and transit corridor along the route Lapis Lazuli: Afghanistan–Turkmenistan-Azerbaijan-Georgia–Turkey.
R. Meredov noted that the strengthening of trilateral cooperation contributes to the successful implementation of transport resources for expanding ties between the regions. The creation of a Single logistics center, the introduction of advanced technologies in the cargo transportation system, the simplification of customs and tariff regulation and the use of trilateral negotiation mechanisms will contribute to the strengthening of trade and economic cooperation between the Central Asian States, South Asia and Europe.
The diplomats agreed to continue cooperation in this area through video consultations between representatives of the relevant ministries and departments of the three countries, the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reports.
